NOTES BY THE ORGANISER
As stated by Her Worship the Mayor of Coventry in the Foreword to this Programme, the Gymkhana has been organised in aid of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment Prisoners of War Fund. It is quite apparent that Her Worship is fully aware of the tremendous effort that has to be made by members of the Home Guard Battalion who participate in an event of this description. All the practices and rehearsals have been carried out absolutely voluntarily in addition to Home Guard duties, so that the ordinary Home Guard training has not been affected in the slightest degree, and I take this opportunity of joining with the Mayor in expressing my thanks to all concerned for their splendid co-operation and valuable assistance.
Given fine weather, I am sure that everyone will thoroughly enjoy a good day’s entertainment. I would like to thank all those who have given me valuable assistance in organising this Gymkhana, in particular I tender grateful thanks to:-
G.HALLY, Esq., Managing Director of Daimler Motors, Ltd., for the “HALLY” Trophy, to be presented to the company obtaining the highest number of points in the Battalion Sports Events.
Lieut-Col. M. H. V. KENDALL, M.C., and the Band of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, also Major E. J. C. CUVVERLEY, Band President of the Regiment.
